WHO WE ARE

A Bit of Background

Here at The Peppergrass Project, we are driven by a single goal: to do our part in making the world a better place for all. By engaging with hyper-local environmental activism, sparking youth-led engagement, and promoting intelligent paths to growth, we are fighting for a happier, healthier, and more sustainable future for all. We strive to build productive relationships with all levels of Ontario governance and make a positive impact with all pursuits.

WHAT WE DO

Meaningful Work. Unforgettable Experiences. Undeniable Impact.

SUPPORT

Bringing the Community Together

At The Peppergrass Project, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts by working with other local, provincial, and national environmental organizations. Through cooperation and community empowerment, we believe we can effect change- together. We've worked with:

  • Environmental Defence

  • Stop the 413

  • Stop the Bradford Bypass

  • Concerned Citizens of King Township (CCKT)

  • Climate Action King (CAK)

  • Land Over Landings

  • and many, many more!

ACTION

Doing What It Takes

With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. We take tangible action by:

  • providing continuous lawn sign deliveries to households across Southern Ontario

  • distributing informational flyers in developmentally affected areas

  • planning and executing protests outside of key political locations

  • actively raising awareness through multiple online and in-person platforms

  • recruiting diverse members through social media campaigns

FORESIGHT

Giving a Voice to the Youngest Generation

By proactively raising youth and young adults with a deep respect for the environment, we are promoting a safer, happier, and more sustainable future for those too young to have a voice yet- and those who are yet to be born. Therefore, The Peppergrass Project focuses our efforts on youth, young adults, and adults aged 10 to 30 years old.

President and Founder

Alarmed by the wanton development of environmentally significant areas in the GTA and beyond (and specifically, the GTA West Corridor and Bradford Bypass), Julia founded The Peppergrass Project in 2020. She is based in King, Ontario.

Jacob Berc

JACOB BERC

Director of Operations

With a valuable and sought-after professional background in film production and independent media, Jacob joined the team in 2022 to strategically implement strategies of public awareness in a more impactful way than ever before. After growing alarmed at the increased susceptibility of ecosystems and wildlife on human whim, Jacob knew it was time for action. He is based in Burlington, Ontario.

THE PEPPERGRASS PROJECT SIGNS FULL-PAGE TORONTO STAR AD AGAINST HIGHWAY 413

December 12, 2021

The Peppergrass Project was one of over 100 Ontario-based environmental and community organizations to sign a full page ad against Highway 413 and the Bradford Bypass in today's Toronto Star.
A big thank you to Environmental Defence for fronting the cost of this advertisement and for bringing Ontario's passionate farmers, activists, and community groups together in such a meaningful way.

FIGHTING BACK-'STOP THE 413' PROTEST IN KING CITY

July 7, 2021

On July 7, 2021, members of CCKT, The Peppergrass Project, and the Stop the 413 Facebook page took to the streets outside King-Vaughan MPP Stephen Lecce's constituency office to protest the proposed Highway 413, which will decimate the natural landscapes of the surrounding countryside- where many of the protestors live.
For over an hour, concerned citizens waved their signs, educated passersby on the harms of a highway passing just outside their doorsteps, and spread an overall spirit of resistance.
